COURSES
SELECTION
Photo Opportunity courses are very flexible and can be tailored
to suit your individual needs.
Because the numbers on any one course are always small, with a maximum of six at any one time, it is always easy to "go with the flow" and if the members of any one group want to concentrate on studio or location work, or spend more time in the darkroom or on the computer it is always easy to adapt each course to each group or individual as the course progresses. Do not worry if you are a beginner, the initial introduction to all the courses will get you seeing and taking photographs to a high standard very quickly. Although film is mentioned quite a lot in the above it is true to say that most people now come with digital cameras so these are always well covered in all courses. ONE
DAY DIGITAL COURSES
The one day course starts with a complete explanation of how and why photography works, both from a technical as well as an aesthetic point of view. Then it is quickly out with Chris Bell to take photographs in the local area using your digital camera if you have one. Back at the studio you will download digital images into the computer and get some constructive feedback on your image composition and exposure. A one day course is very intense, but you will come away with a whole new way of looking at and making images. You will also understand what all those numbers on your camera mean and what it is trying to do when you expose an image. Course running times: 10am - 5pm each day.
Fee: £130 plus VAT.
Total cost including all materials and a light lunch £152.75 |

TWO DAY DIGITAL COURSES

Fee: £225.53 plus VAT total cost including all materials and a light lunch £265.00 |

WEEKEND
COURSES
The weekend course starts just like the one day, but there is more time to spend taking shots, reviewing and getting feedback on your images as well as an introduction to image manipulation in Photoshop. The emphasis, as in all of the courses is on photographic composition which is, in my experience, the biggest single area of weakness in most amateur work. You will not only leave with two or three super hand-made prints but with a new understanding of how photographic imagery works and how to see like a camera. Although the vast majority of people come with digital camera, on a weekend course there is a provision made for film users with the opportunity to develop and print your images in a traditional dark room. Course running times: 10am - 5pm each day.
Fee: £225.53 plus VAT total cost including all materials and a light lunch £265.00

FIVE
DAY COURSES
Starting just like the one day course, with a complete explanation of just how and why photography works, you will soon progress through the whole spectrum of modern photography; which includes 'shooting on location, in the studio, digital manipulation & use of the dark room if you're a film user. All of which will help you understand everyday photographic problems. After an entire week of thinking and doing nothing but photography, you will be able to see and make images of a high standard and have a very good insight into the process as a whole. Even if you never set foot in a studio again you will feel so much more comfortable with your camera. By using studio lights you will have a deeper understanding of not only artificial but also, more importantly, natural light. If you are shooting digitally you will understand how your camera works and leave with good grounding in digital manipulation. Course running times: 10am - 5pm each day..
Fee: £531.99 plus VAT total cost including all materials and a light lunch £625.00 |
